Northern Indiana Consortium for Education (N.I.C.E.)
Bethel is part of an educational consortium with several other area colleges: Goshen,
Holy Cross, IUSB, Ivy Tech, Purdue College of Technology South Bend and St. Mary’s.
Under certain circumstances, Bethel students may register for classes in those schools
through the regular registration process here. However, there are several restrictions that
apply:
- Students must be registered for 12 or more hours at Bethel during the term in which they need a N.I.C.E. consortium class.
- Students may participate only during the fall or spring semester. The program does NOT operate in the summer. (To take classes during the summer at one of these schools, students must register there as a guest student—see “Guest Student” section of this Handbook.)
- If a given course is offered at Bethel, students must take the course here. The N.I.C.E. Consortium may only be utilized for courses not taught on our campus or not scheduled here during the term a student requires it. In general, these classes should be used only by upperclassmen and as a “last resort.”
- Only undergraduate classes qualify for N.I.C.E. Consortium exchange.
Classes taken through the N.I.C.E. Consortium are treated like classes completed on our campus, thus they will receive an actual grade and not merely “credit” from the other school.
For detailed instructions about Consortium participation and to pick up the necessary form, see the Registrar’s Office |
