Assignments associated with class discussions: Each week there will be an assignment associated with that week's topic. The assignment will be made in class and is due the following Tuesday at midnight. To pass the course, you may not miss more than three assignments. You may only do two assignments for classes that you miss (and that is only if you watch that day's recordings). Any assignment that is over a week late will not count. Assignments will be made on a high pass/pass/low pass/fail score. A pass on all assignments (but three) will equal an A. The remaining grades (B, C, D, F) are scaled similarly

You are to react to current events/publications. A reaction to an article includes enough to convince me that you have read the entire article and not just the headline or first paragraph. It should include a summary of what was said and your reaction. Be sure to give a complete reference to the item. These should be turned in as a hard copy in class within one week of the item being published. You may pick when. Each one does have a deadline. The ones you pick must be unique to this course
